Water level with open water
When you create open water, the water level (surface) of the new water is equal to the surroundings. In reality the water level depends on for instance the surrounding groundwater level. How is the water level of new open water determined in Tygron?

Hi Jappe,
there are 2 ways in which I can interpret your question: in terms of visualization and in terms of calculations by the Water Overlay.
In terms of visualization: when a terrain is marked to be Water, the Tygron Client automatically visualizes a layer of water on that location. When the Tygron Engine generates a map for you, and location where there terrain is set to Water is automatically also lowered in terms of the elevation model, so that you get, effectively, a ditch with a visualization of water within it. Usually, when a user places water in a location, there is a default mode where the terrain automatically lowers to get the same effect. Sometimes, a checkbox or other setting allows you to turn that behavior off, but the default should be that drawing water where there once was land, the terrain is lowered. Which method did you use to create water?
In terms of Water Overlay calculation: Water is, in principle, initialized in accordance with the presence of Water Level Areas. However, there are alternative settings ánd fallbacks for when no data exists. Please see out documentation for more information about how the water level is initialized: https://support.tygron.com/wiki/Surface_model_(Water_Overlay)#Water_level_initialization
